UPDATE: We now have a synopsis too – ‘A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.’
Bond fans will remember Spectre (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) from Ian Fleming’s novel Thunderball and the movie Dr. No.
It was led by Ernst Stavro Blofeld, (his character’s name has now been confirmed as ‘Oberhauser’), and its logo was an octopus, which is echoed in the poster for Spectre.
Andrew Scott, believed to be playing a Whitehall employee, is already proving a popular new arrival on Twitter, having played the nefarious Moriarty in Sherlock, as is Waltz, who won an Oscar last year for his superb performance in Django Unchained.
Italian actress Monica Bellucci and France’s Lea Seydoux have been unveiled as the new ‘Bond girls’, named Lucia Sciarra and Madeleine Swann respectively.
