Jennifer Saunders has delighted Absolutely Fabulous fans around the world by announcing that she wants to see a film in cinemas by late 2015.
Writing and starring in the original show – which ran for five seasons between 1992 and 2003 – Saunders confirmed that she was working on a new script for the big screen.
She said: “I am writing the film as we speak – it’s in the pipeline. I am hoping it will be released by the end of next year.”
Saunders made the revelations at the Hay Festival in Wales, despite saying in 2013 that she would never make an Absolutely Fabulous film.
She had previously insisted: “We’ve been talking about it for so long and now I’ve just got this feeling that Ab Fab is in such a nice place now.
“If we made the film, there would be such a danger that we could ruin it.”
However – after reportedly undertaking hypnotherapy – Saunders has u-turned on her negativity and committed to a film for 2015.
Absolutely Fabulous is the story of two women with power in the fashion scene, but who are struggling to let go of their youth.
We just have to wait for the release of the film. I can not wait
